Fruit-packed cactus at the Huntington. For my friends who don’t get to eat much Mexican food, we eat the flesh of these cactus paddles. La Cabanita, a great restaurant down the hill from me, serves a great ensalada de nopales.

    • In the salad, the cactus is cut into strips kind of like green beans. It comes with Mexican cheese, pickled jalapenos, in something like a pico de gallo sauce. it’s really tasty.
