I always prefer flowers in colour, (blame B&W TV when I was young – couldn’t wait for colour 🙂 ), but B&W can be affective when the plant is especially textural. I think I’d probably crop this image to be more square.

thanks, Jude! I used flash so the flower is harshly lit in both shots. The b&w is even more stark — not usually what i like in flowers.
What I love is the color against that almost black background!
using flash definitely helped get rid of the distracting background. Glad you like it! The photos have a different look than my usual.
I like both but I prefer the color version.
