December 30

Dahlias? This was a shot from November that I overlooked during a mums festival at Descanso Gardens in La Canada. But I don’t think they are mums. Anyway, it makes me happy to look at them.

This is my next-to-last post on this blog. Tomorrow: My favorite flower photos of the year, one from each month. Thanks so much for looking at my photos. I’ve really enjoyed working on the blog and making new friends, and getting inspired by all the wonderful work out there.

  1. I have been enjoying every photo that you have posted here. I hope you will continue doing so in the new year. Can you tell us what kind of camera/equipment you use to capture such wonderful images?

    • I’m so glad you enjoyed the photos. I shoot with a 5d Markii. For most of the first half of the year I was shooting either with a 24-70mm 2.8 lens or a 70-200mm 2.8. Then I got a macro lens, a 100mm 2.8, that I used a lot. Everything Canon. I use a tripod to shoot too. For post-processing, I use Photoshop, Lightroom and Nik. The colors in the flowers are almost always as I saw them, most of the editing was to clean up backgrounds.

      Best wishes!

  2. They do have a dahlia look about them, but there are so many varieties of mums these days it is difficult to say! I have loved spending time with you this year and thank you for showing me this wonderful garden and the Huntington. Happy New Year Pat 🙂

    • Jude, I will definitely keep in touch and look forward to seeing more of your wonderful photos. Getting to know you and your great eye has been one of the highlights of the past year for me. Happy New Year! Safe travels!

    • 🙂 I got a printer for Xmas, and the first thing I want to do is learn how to print my favorite flower photos. I look forward to seeing more of your fabulous black and white images.
